No, it’s not a Tank. And yes, it deserves your attention!

While Parisian jeweler to the stars Cartier may be best known in horological circles for its famed Tank watch, the French firm produced — and continues to produce — numerous other watch models that deserve equal billing for their unique and sumptuous designs. 

One such collection is the Ronde de Cartier. With its nod to classic, round midcentury designs, it provides a departure from the rectangular forms for which the maison is so well known. Available in steel or precious metals and in both quartz and automatic movements, it’s the perfect alternative to the Tank. 

This particular Cartier is a Ronde Automatic dating to the 1990s, a Reference 1920-1. Housed in a 33mm stainless steel case with an 18mm lug width, it features a sapphire crystal, sapphire cabochon crown, a polished bezel with visible screws, a beautiful white enamel dial with Roman indices and matching blued steel sword handset, and an integrated stainless steel rivet bracelet. 

In good condition and showing only light wear throughout, this Rondo is a great way to break into the Cartier fold without buying the same Tank that everyone and their mother already owns!
